ACTV: Active Citizens Television Collective for Sustainable, Eco-conscious living
ACTV is a youth-driven, youth-oriented new-media initiative aimed to educate, motivate and “ACTV-ate” Albertans to discover and pursue sustainable living practices and promote ecological consciousness.
We are a collective of young artists, students, and environmental professionals who are producing web-based video and an intractv website to highlight local environmental initiatives, stimulate dialogue and creative solutions, and promote environmentally healthy and ecologically conscious communities.
We invite you to getACTV.ca
We are launching our website, www.getACTV.ca, and first season of webisodes. The party will incorporate several environmental initiatives, organisations, and solutions that we have highlighted in the first season. With local foods, drinks, and musicians, we will celebrate our youth interns who have taken the lead in production and the other organisations, businesses and people we have partnered with to educate and inspire other Albertans to truly become Active Citizens.

The concept for ACTV has arisen out of the ecological crisis and increasing energy demands that are manifesting across the planet. While industry, especially in Alberta, is responsible for a large part of energy consumption and the resulting greenhouse gases, citizens unavoidably contribute to a large amount of energy consumption and GHG production. We believe that while the public attitude is starting to shift towards energy conservation and GHG reduction, many people do not know where or how to begin! That, or they are stifled by the unavailability and costs of more efficient technologies.
