Volunteer Opportunity:

In addition to opening the Centre doors, we invite our volunteers to help out with other Centre-related tasks, such as:
· updating resource materials
· keep the office neat/organized and with enough supplies
· create/organize events or activities that would increase WCC awareness on campus

We invite you to bring your enthusiasm and knowledge of feminism/women’s issues and create an safe, friendly, and open atmosphere for yourself and your feminist community members

Please send us an email at uawcc@ualberta.ca , and we will find a way to meet up with you to sign you up for some volunteer hours!

More about the Centre:

The U of A Women's Centre exists to provide a supportive environment for education, networking and organizing around women-specific issues within the campus community and beyond. The Centre has a few functions.

First, it is a space dedicated to community building and activism, supporting women and women-positive groups to learn, teach, organize and create around issues and ideas. The Centre and its activities give women and feminists spaces to meet, connect, dialogue and build relationships. We also offer funding and administrative resources to support groups in carrying out their projects.

Second, the Centre works to support everyone's learning about women and feminism. Our library of books, magazines and articles on feminism and women's issues are here for use by all students, faculty and community members. The Centre also houses the Dino Distro, a spot for feminist zine-makers to share ideas and distribute their work. This project is currently waiting for a fresh crew to take it and run with it!

Using the Space

We know that it's sometimes hard to find good spaces for conversation and change, and that each of us has different needs and different dreams of how a space can be used. We'd like to allow users of the space to define it according to their own needs, so we've devised a door hanger system. There are two door hangers. Choose the hanger that best expresses your needs and hang it on the doorknob. Use the dry erase marker to write a message to let others know how the space is currently being used. If someone's already using the space, please respect their designation.

The Women’s Collective Resource Centre, 4-16 SUB

The Women’s Collective Resource Centre serves as our administrative hub complete with a computer and all the things we need to keep this place running. It also houses our library.
